CPAs & Tax Preparers: Criminal Liability Under IRC §7216
Uploading client W-2s, K-1s, or financial ledgers into a public cloud AI tool can count as a disclosure of tax return information under IRC §7216, which carries criminal misdemeanor penalties, unless the client first signs a consent form that follows Rev. Proc. 2013-14. Our local hardware processes tax files entirely on-site, so client returns are never handed to an outside AI company.
Law Firms: Confidentiality & Citation Risk
Missouri Supreme Court Rule 4-1.6 and Informal Opinion 2024-11 require lawyers to protect client confidentiality and to vet any AI tool they use.
